I've moved into a new place, and it has propane. What do I need to know?
Other things you should consider:
- If you rent your home, contact your landlord for information about the propane company servicing the tank.
- When the propane is delivered, have the driver show you what propane smells like. Knowing what propane smells like will help you know if there is ever a leak in your tank.
Also, keep in mind the following:
- Septic tank location: A propane truck is heavy enough that thick concrete septic tank covers and lids are easily broken when run over.
- Overhead power lines: propane delivery trucks are quite tall, and at night, the driver might not see low hanging power lines.
- Sprinkler systems: Many yards with sprinkler systems can be damaged if a service truck runs over any part of the irrigation system.
- Driveways: propane delivery trucks are quite big, and may have trouble navigating steep or winding driveways.
- Pets: if you keep pets outside during the day, and there is a chance they could get out if a gate, etc, is left open, please alert the driver in advance.
I'm interested in getting propane. What size tank should I get?
The size of tank you need depends on your propane requirements. If you're using propane for a fireplace, you would require a 40 gallon or 80 gallon tank. On the other hand, if you require propane to run a generator, you would need a very large tank.

Contact SIS Propane to talk with one of our service representatives, who will help determine the right tank for your needs.
What is a regulator? A pigtail?
A regulator controls the flow of gas, and lowers the pressure from the tank to the appliance.
A pigtail is a hose that moves fuel from the propane tank to the regulator.
What is Carbon Tax?
Carbon Tax is a broad-based tax on fuels such as gasoline, diesel, natural gas, coal, and propane. The carbon tax is based on the carbon dioxide equivalent emissions from each type of fuel.
